2After winning our second away match of the season, a 4-0 rout of Serie A debutants Benevento, the Giallorossi return home to the Stadio Olimpico to face Udinese on Saturday .
The form guide
Roma won the midweek fixture in convincing fashion – 4-0 against Serie A newcomers Benevento. The Giallorossi have scored at least two goals in our last nine home matches against the Friulani in all competitions, so a high-scoring affair at the Stadio Olimpico is expected. Ro
ma are also on a run of eight straight league victories against Udinese dating back to March 2013. In our last match at the Olimpico, we defeated Hellas Verona 3-0.
Udinese are coming off a disappointing 3-2 home loss to Torino, but prior to that, their only win in the league this season came on September 10 by a score of 1-0 against Genoa. Every one of their four losses this campaign has only been by a goal. Their last league win away from home came against Pescara on March 12. The Friulani have never lost seven consecutive Serie A matches in their history, and will be looking to break their losing streak in Rome on Saturday afternoon.
Team news
Roma will be boosted by the return of midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who missed the last match because of a slight tendon issue. Patrik Schick is still out of action, and it was confirmed yesterday that a thigh injury will keep him off the pitch for at least two more weeks. Full-backs Rick Karsdorp, Nura Abdullahi and Emerson Palmieri are still recovering from more long-term injuries.
Udinese are without their captain and central defender Danilo, who was substituted early on in their last match against Torino because of a muscle strain that is still affecting him. Swiss wingback Silvan Widmer and Croatian attacker Stipe Pericaare the only other Udinese players who have been left out of the travelling squad due to injury.
The view from the dugout
Eusebio Di Francesco: “Tomorrow we need to have the same attitude we showed against Verona and Benevento – we need to set up as a team, show a desire to play as one and have that determination. We need to start just as strongly as we have been doing.”
Luigi Delneri: “We analysed how we did in the previous matches. It would be important to get a result in Rome. In Italy, the results matter much more than the play and the manager always has to answer for this
Opposition danger manKEVIN LASAGNA
Kevin Lasagna will pose a threat to the Giallorossi defence with his quickness and eye for goal. After scoring 14 goals for Carpi in Serie B last season. In his return to Serie A, he has continued to showcase his goalscoring prowess while in an unfamiliar position.
He has adapted well to a shift from centre-forward to left wing, scoring a goal in his last two appearances against Torino and Milan.
Roma's one to watchEDIN DZEKO
Edin Dzeko has scored four goals in his last two matches, reaching an impressive goalscoring milestone of 21 goals in his last 21 Serie A games.
Roma have scored in every one of their last 33 league matches at the Olimpico, with Dzeko scoring in 12 of his last 12 home league matches, and the Bosnian will surely be hoping to continue his streak on Saturday.
